Liesbeth Segaar joined ICIMOD as Head of Human Resources in 2014. She is an attorney at law/Qualified Legal Practitioner with specialization: Employment law and Insurance liabilities. Her genuine interest in people and her passion for supporting people in their personal and professional development drove her to a career as Senior HR professional with now 20 years’ experience in leading different HR functions in an international setting in both, private (Sanoma Publishers) and development sector (SNV International Development Organisation ). From 2002-2014, she worked in West-Africa (based in Burkina Faso) and in Asia (based in Vietnam) as Regional HR Manager.
Her broad and deep HR Management expertise includes track record in all the standard HR fields such as Compensation & Benefits (C&B), Human Resources Development (HRD), Human Capital Management, Recruitment & Selection (R&S), Health & Safety and Organizational Development.
With her ability in balancing individual and organisational interests, her extensive experience in successfully leading and empowering diverse, multi-cultural teams, her energetic personality and positive attitude as a continuous learner drawing from external networks and relationships to improve own practice, she will not only manage and develop HR in ICIMOD, she will also add value as a proactive and inspiring team member.
Her personal interests are very much based on out-door sports, like cycling, running, ice-skating (the Dutch famous “210 km Elfstedentocht”), mountaineering and tennis.
