Anu Kumari Lama
Dr Anu Kumari Lama, Tourism Specialist, at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) has over 15 years of professional and research experience that cuts through different global-local levels of sustainable tourism and climate change adaptation programme/project development, consultancies and networks. She brings interdisciplinary knowledge on and critical perspectives of sustainable tourism development and adaptation, gained through her experience in integrating diverse disciplinary, praxeological knowledge, participatory action research tools and approach at the policy-science interface of tourism development, adaptation and governance contexts.
She holds doctoral degree on tourism development, adaptation and governance from Germany. She theorised and used integral approach in tourism development, adaptation and governance studies. Such metatheory approach (in the development work) is the pioneer work in Nepal, particularly in the field of climate change adaptation response. This work serves as an important knowledge bank and valuable information for diverse actors interested in broadening and deepening the understanding of climate change adaptation and tourism sustainability from system complexity, resilience and adaptive governance thinking and social learning perspectives.
Dr. Lama is also a recipient of prestigious study/research awards on tourism and climate change such as Global Sustainability Summer School Award - Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies/Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany; International Climate Protection Fellowship - Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany; Mingma Norbu Sherpa Scholarship - The Greater Himalaya Foundation, USA/The Himalayan Trust/ Lincoln University, New Zealand.
