Chhurim Sherpa

Chhurim Sherpa is a Nepali climber and in 2012 became the first woman to climb Mount Everest twice in a week in the same season. The achievement has been added to the Guinness Book of World Records. Sherpa’s early romance with mountaineering blossomed when she saw tourists trekking through her village. She wanted to do the same. She believes that women should have a can-do attitude to move forward and not be left behind simply because we are women. As a Board Member of CAHC, Sherpa says ‘I am happy to help the people in my place where the awareness of many things has to be brought. The government should equally take initiation as they receive foreign grants for development every year.
