The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), together with Soil and Water Conservation Society, Nepal (SOWCOS) and the Agha Khan Foundation (AKF) Tajikistan, is organizing a cross-learning event on integrated watershed management from 1–7 October 2018. Fourteen participants, including managers, practitioners and social mobilisers from six organizations in Tajikistan will participate in this experience sharing and learning event, which is being organized as part of the partnership framework between ICIMOD and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

The event aims to contribute to “improved livelihoods and food security through sustainable natural resource management in selected watersheds of Rasht and Zeravshan valley of Tajikistan”. The participants will visit the ICIMOD Knowledge Park at Godavari, the Resilient Mountain Village site in Kavre district, the Kulekhani watershed, and a few others sites during their time in Nepal. The objective is to observe and learn from the piloted methods and processes of sustainable and affordable land and water management – including springshed management and climate resilient and gender responsive agriculture and value chain solutions – for increased income, food security, disaster risk reduction and enhanced ecosystem services. The visit is funded by AKF Tajikistan.
