The United Nations Climate Change Conference 2011 – officially the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 7th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties (CMP 7) to the Kyoto Protocol – will take place in Durban, South Africa from 28 November to 9 December 2011.
The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) will be joining hands with its regional member countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan), other mountainous countries around the globe, Mountain Partnership Consortium members, international development partners, and non-governmental and civil society organisations in its member countries in efforts to influence the international debate on climate change in favour of sustainable mountain development.
ICIMOD’s activities will include contributing new knowledge to the climate change debate, raising awareness, and building partnership among governments, organisations, and experts to mainstream the mountain agenda in the UNFCCC process and in other multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs).
