National Technical Consultation Meeting in Pakistan

ICIMOD, in collaboration with thegovernment of Kyber Pakhtunkhawa, hosted a National Technical Consultation meeting — Karakoram-Pamir-Wakhan Transboundary Conservation and Development Initiative — 27 July 2015 at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Attendees learned of ICIMOD’s transboundary conservation initiatives and how to identify opportunities and priority action areas for conservation and development within Broghil National Park under transboundary collaboration.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Safdar Ali Khan, Chief Conservator, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. Experts made presentations on the ecological importance of the Karakorum Pamir Wakhan Landscape (KPWL) area to the region and the biodiversity and conservation issues the area was facing. Participants were updated on Broghil National Park (BNP) in Pakistan including information gaps, key challenges, opportunities as well as priority actions areas for trans-boundary cooperation between Afghanistan, China, Pakistan and Tajikistan. The workshop was concluded with vote of thanks by Mr Muhammad Ismail, Associate Coordinator, Karakoram-Pamir Landscape Initiative, ICIMOD.
