Training
River Basins and Cryosphere & Cryosphere
Islamabad Hotel, Islamabad, Pakistan
16 November 2019 to 20 November 2019
ICIMOD invites faculty members, graduate students, and early-career scientists from research institutes and universities in Pakistan to apply for a five-day training on field-based glacier monitoring and remote sensing in Pakistan. The training will involve theoretical lectures and hands-on exercises, covering introductions to field-based monitoring methods, instruments required for field work, their application for glacier monitoring, and integration with remote-sensing data.
Training sessions on remote sensing will include remote-sensing methods for mapping and monitoring glacier changes, including area, surface elevation changes, and mass balance. The training is targeted at participants from universities (faculty members and students) and research institutes in Pakistan. The training will introduce freely available remote-sensing data (e.g. Sentinel, ASTER, Landsat series, SRTM, ICESat) used for studying various components of the cryosphere.
The training is being conducted under ICIMOD’s Cryosphere Initiative, funded by the Government of Norway and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
*Due to overwhelming response we are no longer accepting application for this training. Thank you!!!
