SANDEE
Winter School in Research Methods is a one to two weeks course offered every year in the month of January. This course is designed for SANDEE researchers/associates who are working on a project with SANDEE. The objective of the Winter School is to strengthen various aspects of research methods including research design, econometrics, analytical methods, and writing skills.
The aim was to teach a mix of theory and empirics and provide hands-on training in econometric software such as STATA and EXCEL. The course also hopes to enable those researchers who have their own data to make progress in data analyses and developing manuscript.
The course had the following modules: Module 1: How to design a sample, develop a survey instrument, train enumerators and collect survey data (2 days, including half day mock training exercises and half day peer review of researcher questionnaires) Module 2: Data Management and Basics of Analysis (4 days, including 1 day training on STATA) Module 3: Literature review, presentation skills and manuscript development (2 days, including one day for re-writing/editing the literature review or manuscript)
