Mandalay University (MU), the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE), and the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) are jointly organizing a Research and Writing Workshop on Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from August 29 to 2 September 2019 in Myanmar.

The objectives of the MU–SANDEE–HUC workshop are as follows:

• Introduce researchers to current policy–research concerns related to the environment and development in Myanmar and across the region.
• Develop research proposal writing skills among researchers who are working on the economics of environmental problems.
• Encourage empirical research that can contribute to sustainable development policy in Myanmar and across the region
• Examine options for cross-country research.

The workshop will provide practical training where participants first identify research issues and then develop research proposals with guidance from local and international experts.
