PhD Fellow

As a PhD fellow under the SustaIndus project, I am leading its work package 2, investigating hydropower development and its relation to the water-energy-food nexus in the Indus basin. I am in a sandwich program with time split between ICIMOD in Nepal and Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?

A:

I protect the pulse of the planet through my research, which focuses on increasing efficiency in how we use available resources to fulfil water-energy-food demands within the region. Optimal utilization of the limited resources we have will be key to reducing our water and carbon footprint and minimize pressures on water resources in the HKH.

The diversity of people from all over the HKH from various disciplines.

A:

I’m passionate about the use of decision support systems and integrated models for evidence-based policy and decision making in water resources management.

My qualifications

A:

I have an MSc in water resources engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, Denmark and a BSc from Smith College, USA. I have varying research experiences in hydro-economic nexus modeling, system analysis, climate change assessment and hydrological modeling from the USA, Ghana, Israel, Denmark and Nepal. Prior to coming to ICIMOD, I was with the Cadmus Group (USA) and the International Water Management Institute (Nepal).
