Regional knowledge sharing and learning visit for up and out scaling resilient mountain solutions

Background

The Resilient Mountain Solution (RMS) Initiative aims to enhance resilience of women and men in the HKH region to socioeconomic and environmental changes, including climate change, by up and out scaling resilient solutions. The RMS initiative develops new knowledge and tests context-specific simple and affordable resilience-building solutions through pilots, collaborative research, field demonstrations, and strategic engagement with the partners. It also helps strengthen capacity and develop networks with governments, institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure that these solutions are replicated through up and out scaling to reach as many mountain communities as possible.

About the visit

The purpose of this regional knowledge sharing and learning visit is to enable the capacity of frontline officers and key extension staff from Bhutan, India, and Nepal, who will learn about the best practices piloted in Kavre District, Nepal, and share regional experiences that contribute towards resilience building of mountain communities. There will be a farm-level interactive exchange of knowledge and experiences with lead farmers at the RMS demonstration sites in Kavre, mainly highlighting the organic farming system, livestock-based organic inputs, nursery management, participatory guarantee schemes, and community forestry with medicinal and aromatic plants.

Objectives
  • Regional sharing and learning on resilient mountain solutions from Bhutan, India, and Nepal
  • Strengthening the capacity of frontline officers and extension staffs, directly working on ground with grassroots communities for up and out scaling context-specific resilient mountain solutions
