Training
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) – Government of Nepal, and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) are jointly organizing a five-day training on dam breach and risk/impact modelling. Participation in the training is by invitation only and is targeted at government officials and academia. The training will also include a day-long field visit to the Bhotekoshi hydropower plant in Sindhupalchok.

The training is being organized as part of a formulation exercise for the Global Climate Fund (GCF) project. It will bring together participants from the three organizations to collaborate, learn, and share knowledge to improve the project proposal. It will also strengthen stakeholders’ capacity on dam breach and risk/impact modelling.
The training will be conducted by a UNDP dam breach modelling expert and resource persons from ICIMOD. The training modules include the following sessions:
Day 1. Dam Breach Modelling
Day 2. Introduction to Hydraulic Modelling
Day 3. 2D Modelling
Day 4. Field Visit to Bhotekoshi hydropower plant
Day 5. Implementation of Dam Breach Modelling (GCF Project Formulation Process)
