A two-day orientation/training workshop on key gender concepts will be conducted with member of the Gender Equality Committee (GEC) set up by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Bhutan. The GEC has been set up by the ministry to mainstream gender into its plans and programmes. It also works to prevent and redress issues of sexual harassment at the workplace. The GEC includes members from different technical sectors, and this was the first-of-its-kind training organized for them.
GEC members who will attend the workshop include the Chief of Livestock Production, Chief of Agriculture Research and Extension Division, Principal Agriculture Officer, Sr. Forestry Officer, and Deputy Chief Legal Officer.
The training is being funded by the Ministry Agriculture and Forests, Bhutan, and conducted by a senior Gender Specialist from ICIMOD as part of the collaboration between RMS and the Ministry.
