ICIMOD at the 19th International RiverSymposium

Hosted by the International RiverFoundation, the 19th International Riversymposium, which is being held at Taj Palace in New Delhi, India from 12 to 14 September 2016,  brings together river managers, policy developers, scientists, consultants, students, NGOs, indigenous and community organisations and business and industry representatives from around the world to share their knowledge, learn from others and collaborate on innovative ideas to improve the sustainable management of river basins – all under an overarching theme of ‘Great rivers of the world: Management for shared benefits’.

A team of ICIMOD professionals led by David Molden, Director General of ICIMOD, will be participating in the Riversymposium. ICIMOD will draw out the implications of major geobiophysical and socioeconomic changes taking place in the Hindu Kush Himalayans to water-food-energy security, sustainable development, livelihoods, and resilience and adaptation of people living in the region, both upstream and downstream. It will also discuss the future of Himalayan rivers, particularly the Indus, Ganges and Brahmaputra. ICIMOD will also have a booth to showcase ICIMOD resources such as publications, posters, and publicity materials on the theme of Himalayan glaciers, and rivers.
