How do you protect the pulse of the planet?

A:

My work contributes to protecting the pulse of the planet because information is a basic asset for human development, which is vital for research, development, innovation and policymaking. My work provides support from information generating to communicating to the right audiences at the right time.

What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?

A:

I have enjoyed most the formation and development of HimalDoc. I enjoy managing it so that it stores, disseminates, links and promotes information resources on sustainable mountain development issues.

My qualifications

A:

My core 16 years of professional life started at ICIMOD. By education, passion, profession and experience, I am a librarian and an information scientist.  I hold a Master’s degree in library and information science from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. I was awarded the TULLSSA Gold Medal in 2002 for gaining the first position in the Bachelors of library and information science from TU. I had studied pure science until my Bachelor’s degree studies. I have deepened my knowledge and skills in information repository and knowledge portals, integrated library management software, library automation, knowledge discovery, ICT applications, metadata standards, digitization, reference management system, publication impact analysis, social and academic research networks, open access, library and information management, use of information resource management tools and technologies. I have successfully participated in many internal, national and international academic and leadership trainings, workshops, conferences, and webinars. I have also conducted many trainings, webinars and workshops.
