My work promotes bridging knowledge gaps in geoinformation technology and Earth observation to achieve workforce parity in the HKH countries with balanced gender involvement. This role strengthens and accelerates individual, institutional and infrastructure capacity and assists people to use advanced technology and innovations for decision making. This work helps to provide options in bridging science and policy gaps, which is esstential to protecting the pulse for sustainable development of the HKH.

I enjoy developing and employing new and innovative ideas in capacity building activities. Working with the diverse expertise of ICIMOD which covers such vast knowledge makes me more motivated and enthusiastic to develop my skills.

I am passionate about diverse music forms, especially soft music like Ghazals that soothe the inner soul. In addition, I like to hike, observing and interacting with nature for peace.

I received my Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur after defending my dissertation titled “Ensemble modelling of plant biodiversity in Indian biogeographic zones,” that focuses on evaluating and predicting species diversity in different biogeographic regions of India. I had also received an M.Tech degree in remote sensing and geo-information systems from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, located in Dehradun after defending my thesis titled “Net primary productivity assessment of forest plantations using field measurements and terrestrial biospheric models.”

I have seven years of research experience in diverse fields of ecology as I was also involved as senior research fellow in several projects related to ecological science, carbon dynamics and land use land cover change dynamics and hydrological modeling during my PhD studies. I have also published my work in peer-reviewed journals and have communicated my work at international and national conferences and seminars.
