Senior Programme Associate Managing cryosphere and water risks (SG1-AAA) Climate and environmental risks (SG1)
Shova Bhandari is Senior Programme Associate in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Intervention under Action Area A – Managing Cryosphere and Water Risks. She has been with ICIMOD for more than two decades. Prior to Action Area A, she was Senior Programme Associate in Geospatial Solutions where she was responsible for coordinating, managing, and supporting the administrative, logistical and financial functions to ensure smooth operations for the theme.
Now, she is providing administrative support to the Action Area A team in coordination with other programmes/units of ICIMOD for the smooth functioning of the Action Area. She is not only providing administrative and logistical support but also managing financial and budgeting support during meetings, workshops, trainings, and other events organized by Action Area and its Interventions in close coordination with admin/travel/IT/finance units and other programmes. She is also maintaining databases and records to ensure that all Action Area-related documentation is appropriately filed and easily accessible.

I protect the pulse of the planet to beat healthier through my work providing administrative and logistic support to achieve our mission.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
When I enter ICIMOD main gate, I enjoy seeing the beautiful green lawn with different beautiful flowers and trees and the greetings from guards also make me feel nice. The diverse-cultured teams, the daycare facility and good office environment with a non-smoking office area motivates me to work at ICIMOD.
What are you passionate about?
I enjoy reading spiritual books and I often wonder about life and the after life.
My qualifications
I have about 24 years of work experience coordinating, managing, and supporting administrative, logistical and financial works. I also have work experience in desktop publishing and data entry. I originally joined ICIMOD under the Mountain Risk Engineering and Mini Micro Hydropower projects and also worked in our beekeeping project for more than one decade. Prior to joining ICIMOD, I worked for about 4 years in SIRAC Software (P) Ltd. and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in science from Nepal.
