REGIONAL TRAINING WORKSHOP
Atmospheric Watch Initiative & Atmosphere
Virtual and in-person at Everest Hall, ICIMOD, Nepal
25 October 2021 to 29 October 2021
As part of its capacity development work, the Atmospheric Watch Initiative, under the Regional Programme on Atmosphere, has been providing training on the operation, maintenance, calibration, and interpretation of atmospheric monitoring instruments since 2016. These events are aimed at a range of practitioners and tailored to fit the needs and requirements of the member countries and partners. To build on the pervious capacity building activities and fill the knowledge gap, we are initiating a five-day virtual and in-person training, with hands-on exercises on the operation, maintenance, and calibration of the GRIMM.
Since its establishment, the Atmospheric Watch Initiative in collaboration with Nepalese and Bhutanese government partners has established state-of-the-art air quality stations with aerosol and trace gas measurement instruments. GRIMM instruments are used in these stations as the primary instrument to measure dust concentrations (PM). These instruments require regular servicing and calibration to ensure the highest quality of data.
