The Upper Indus Basin Network (UIBN) is an informal knowledge and research network of national and international researchers working in the upper part of the Indus basin. UIBN’s mission is to promote coordination and collaboration among organizations active in the basin, to improve understanding of present and future water availability, demand, and hazards. UIBN also seeks to develop solutions for various stakeholders at the local, national, and international levels. The network comprises members of national organizations and universities of Pakistan and international organizations and universities that work in the UIB.

Workshop objective

The workshop seeks to strengthen research and knowledge generation across four riparian countries sharing UIB waters (Afghanistan, China, India, and Pakistan) in a coordinated manner. The workshop is designed to share knowledge generated and gaps identified by UIBN technical working groups and scientists working in the UIB. It will also revisit the UIBN objectives, vision, mission, and structure.

Expected outcomes

The workshop seeks to revisit and revise the UIBN structure and its operational modality by revisiting the UIBN membership and governance structure and technical working group guidelines.
