The 2022 international training workshop on Earth observation for sustainable development in developing countries (2022 AOGEO training) aims to train young scientists from developing countries on Earth observation technologies. The theme of the training workshop is Earth observations for carbon and ecology monitoring in the Himalayan region, and the workshop will focus on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region and contributes to SDG 13: Climate action (carbon monitoring) and SDG 15: Life on land (ecological monitoring) in particular.
We are collaborating with the National Remote Sensing Center of China (NRSCC), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China; the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIRCAS; and the Asia-Oceania Group on Earth Observations (AOGEO) to organise the training.
Young scientists and technologists from developing countries will join the online training.

The Regional Centre for Capacity Development (RCCD) is the result of a cooperative agreement between the NRSCC, MOST; ICIMOD; and AIRCAS. The centre will work towards supporting capacity building on Earth observation research and analysis on the implementation of the regional SDGs, agriculture and food security, climate change, carbon neutrality, disaster risk reduction, ecosystems, and biodiversity under the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) framework.
