From the very beginning, we have focused on developing a variety of approaches for sharing the knowledge and experience gained at the Knowledge Park with those who can benefit from it most – farmers at the grass roots level. This is done through formal training courses and visits, the distribution of agricultural materials, and direct contact with communities off-site.
We have always maintained close contact with people in the neighbouring villages – many of whom work at the site – and with members of the user groups of the adjoining forests. These exchanges have, however, been mostly informal, and we are now working with NGOs and other partners on community outreach through several of our initiatives. We hope to increase the impact of our activities and scale up the use of technologies tested and demonstrated at the Knowledge Park. These activities are not confined to the local villages, some are with communities as far afield as Namche Bazaar in the Everest region and Meghalaya in India.
