The eight Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) countries signed a Ministerial Declaration and launched the HKH Call to Action during the landmark 2020 HKH Ministerial Mountain Summit. This declaration focused on sustaining mountain environments and improving livelihoods in the HKH, a region particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. The historic agreement highlighted the need for regional collaboration and ambitious climate action to limit global warming to 1.5 °C and adapt to climate change impacts.
