The one-day national media workshop hosted by ICIMOD in collaboration with UNESCO and Nepal Forum of Science Journalists (NFSJ) will serve as a deliberative platform to discuss the nexus between climate change, cryosphere, and local communities.
The specific objectives of the workshop include:
The workshop will involve profound interactions and critical discussions among researchers and media persons. The focus will be on individual sharing and reflections around the overarching theme of the conference. Group discussions will also be an integral part of the workshop.
The workshop will ensure the participation of science and environment journalists – at least one from each province in Nepal. The participating journalists will share their experiences of reporting on issues of climate change and community livelihood, including the challenges they face.
The workshop will include thematic sessions on climate change, mountain glaciers, and Himalayan ecology led by a panel of climate scientists and researchers, and the experiences of climate reporting in mainstream media by science journalists.
