Dikra Prasad Bajgai

Air Pollution Measurement Associate (Instrument Associate)
Climate and environmental risks (SG1)
Action for clean air (SG1-AAB)

Dikra Prasad Bajgai joined ICIMOD as an Air Pollution Measurement Associate in December 2022. He is responsible for generating scientific evidence on the air pollution in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.

Dikra is involved in the operation of state-of the-art ambient air quality monitoring equipment and supports the establishment of new air quality monitoring stations. He is actively engaged in emissions measurement and modelling including the evaluation of satellite and model-derived data through in-situ observations, using various models and analysis tools.

He also contributes to uploading data to the Regional Database System, supporting the Air Quality Dashboard, and is responsible for capacity-building training, stakeholder engagement, and outreach activities.

Previously, he worked for various development projects (hydropower, roads, airports, water supply) including ADB & the World Bank-funded projects in Nepal, conducting in-situ measurements, focusing on ambient air quality, vehicular emission measurements, and noise level assessments. He also participated in the development of environmental management plans and contributed to environmental governance initiatives.

Dikra has expertise in model-based analysis, particularly in dispersion modeling and trajectory modeling, and is adept at GIS and remote sensing applications. His research focus areas are air pollution, aircraft emissions, and dispersion modeling.

He holds an MSc in Environment and Natural Resources from Kathmandu University, Nepal, and a BSc in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
