Prerana Dhakhwa is a Business Development and Resource Mobilization (BDRM) Associate at ICIMOD. She has held this position since 2023 having worked as consultant in the BDRM unit since 2022. Earlier, she was a Human Resources Associate at ICIMOD, a Recruitment Coordinator at MeroJob, and a Human Resources Assistant at NIC Asia Bank.
Prerana holds MSc in Sustainable Water Management from Lancaster University, UK, and an MBA from Kathmandu University, Nepal.
Her achievements include winning the Silver Lancaster Award and Vow Top Ten College Women Award. As a student, she represented Nepal at the Asian Youth Conference for Biodiversity in Nagoya, Japan, and the South Asian Youth Summit on Climate Change in Nepal.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
I strive to practice sustainable consumption and minimise my overall consumption to reduce waste generation. By doing so, I am actively working to reduce my carbon footprint and conserve water resources. Working in an organisation dedicated to protecting the pulse of the planet also further enhances my contribution to safeguarding the Earth’s well-being.
What do you enjoy the most about working at ICIMOD?
I work in a team of very passionate and dedicated people. There is always so much happening and so much to learn. I enjoy this the most about working at ICIMOD.

I am driven by a deep passion to enhance various aspects of life, whether it’s personal growth, the environment surrounding me, or the quality of work I engage in.
What are your qualifications?
I have a Master’s in Sustainable Water Management from Lancaster University and another in Business Administration with a specialisation in Human Resource Management from Kathmandu University. I have six years of experience in human resource management in varied areas such as banking, HR consultancy, and intergovernmental organisations, in addition to my experience in BDRM.
