5th REVIEW AND PLANNING WORKSHOP
SANDEE (AAE, SG3) & AAD, SG2
Hybrid (Sri Lanka, and Online)
12 July 2024 to 14 July 2024
SANDEE is organising a one-day workshop to review the progress on and adjust the plan for the 2024 activities of the ongoing SANDEE-led research project ‘Economics of Forest Restoration in South Asia’. In addition to the project leader and the advisors, country team leaders and their collaborators from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will attend the workshop (12 July) physically in Sri Lanka, while the other team members will attend virtually.
The meeting will be followed by a two-day field visit (13–14 July 2024) to the study areas in Sri Lanka. The project leader, advisors, and team leaders from all partner countries will be joining the Sri Lankan team led by the Institute of Policy Studies, Sri Lanka to their study sites.
The project team will review the progress over the previous six months and adjust the plan for the upcoming six months. Two SANDEE advisors, Jeff Vincent, Professor at Duke University, and François Libois, Professor at the Paris School of Economics, are involved in the research as technical advisors for providing technical backstopping. Research teams from the four South Asian countries are an integral part of the research project.
The project helps us understand the economics of forest restoration as a carbon mitigation option and its distributional impacts on gender and marginalised communities.
SANDEE is collaborating with partners from four countries in South Asia – Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Pakistan – to implement our research project on ‘Economics of forest restoration’. The research project is funded by International Development Research Center (IDRC), Canada. Led by Mani Nepal, Programme Coordinator, SANDEE, ICIMOD, as Project Leader (Principal Investigator), the project duration is three years (February 2022–January 2025).
