Upama Ashish Koju works as a Remote Sensing and Geo Information Analyst at ICIMOD, contributing to Ecosystem and Landscape Restoration under the Strategic Group ‘Resilient Mountain Economies and Landscapes’ and the SERVIR-HKH programme. She joined ICIMOD in September 2024, bringing with her a decade of experience in application of geospatial technologies in natural resources management.
Upama holds a PhD in Geospatial Technology Application in Natural Resources Management, complemented by a post-doctorate in the same field. She has extensive expertise managing and leading numerous geospatial, natural resource, and conservation initiatives in addition to her role as a geospatial technical specialist. She has represented her work in multiple international conferences and authored a number of scientific publications, showcasing her commitment to sustainable development.
As a Nepali citizen, Upama is passionate about applying advanced geospatial technologies to address environmental challenges in the Himalayas, aiming to make lasting contributions to the region’s sustainable landscape management.
