The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), in association with the Partnership Brokers Association (PBA), is organizing the Third Partnership Level 1 Certified Training in Kathmandu, from 28 February to 3 March 2017. The four-day professional skill development training includes practice based learnings for effective partnership brokering to develop robust, efficient and innovative partnerships.
Several of ICIMOD’s partnerships are coming to a close in 2017. The organization is taking systematic steps and implementing procedures to ensure that the closing of these partnerships are accompanied by the successful capturing of lessons learnt. The focus is also on maintaining respect among the partnerships that have so far been established.
ICIMOD developed its Private Sector Engagement Strategy in 2016 keeping in mind the important role the private sector can play in achieving impact through regional programmes and outreach activities. Private sector engagement can contribute to the impact of ICIMOD’s activities by enhancing livelihood opportunities and improving market access of mountain communities by developing value chain and market linkages for mountain products and services.
As part of the effort to manage and maintain the partnership portfolio at the organization, a Partner Relationships Management (PRM) System has been developed with innovative tools and functionalities to enhance partnership services. The tool is particularly useful as ICIMOD works with an extended and diversified network of more than 200 partner oragnizations at the national, regional, and global levels.
The organization will continue to apply the fundamental principles of the partnership approach in all its partner relationships to help improve partner relations and programme outcomes. Effective partnership management is central to ICIMOD in terms of achieving its strategic goals. ICIMOD is committed to strengthening the capacity of organizations in the Hindu Kush Himalaya for partnering effectively in order to achieve improved development outcomes and impacts.
