Advanced Center for Water Resources Development and Management (ACWADAM) is a not-for-profit organization possessing an expertise in Earth and Water Sciences. It works on science of groundwater and aquifer based participatory processes. Nearly all of ACWADAM’s work focuses on understanding aquifers and demystifying this understanding to strongly articulate and practice the management of groundwater as a common pool. ACWADAM’s work has found application in areas of high risk and vulnerability such as the flood plains of North Bihar, the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, the tribal hinterlands of Jharkhand and the drylands of Madhya Pradesh. Of particular mention is ACWADAM’s hydrogeological work in the mountainous terrain of the Himalayas and the Western Ghats. More recently, ACWADAM played a crucial role in developing The National Aquifer Mapping and Groundwater Management Plan under the Government of India’s Planning Commissions 12th Five year plan.
