In its commitment to reduce its institutional carbon foot print and promote renewable energy, ICIMOD signed a contract with Sipradi Energy of Kathmandu to expand the use of solar electrification in its buildings and office campus.
The total feasible photovoltaic (PV) power installation at the ICIMOD complex is 152.75 kWp, of which 92 kWp will be installed in first phase. The remaining solar cells will be installed once construction of the new annex building is complete, making ICIMOD fully powered by the sun.
Installation is expected to be completed in early 2016.
