The benefits of mulching? Mulch is a covering, using straw, compost, or plastic sheeting, spread on the ground around plants to prevent excessive evaporation or erosion, enrich the soil, and inhibit weed growth.

#Mulch is a layer of material applied on fruits and other agricultural crops on the surface of soil. The objective of applying mulch include conservation of soil moisture, improving fertility and health of the soil and enhancing the visual appeal of the area. A mulch layer on the soil surface allows the soil to soak up more water and reduces the rate of water loss from the soil. Mulching modifies the soil temperature. In winter, mulching insulates the roots, crowns, and stems of winter crops from extremely low temperatures and in the summer, proper mulching helps keep the soil cooler.

Both organic mulch (using leaf-litter, straw or grasses) and inorganic mulch (using plastic) are demonstrated at our Knowledge #Park in #Godavari!
