WATER
In Nepal, the issues surrounding water are twofold – quantity and quality. Water quality is an issue across the country given poor sanitation and hygiene conditions and infrastructure. Nepal is vulnerable to water-borne diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea. Moreover, in the Kathmandu Valley, nearly 70% of drinking water is contaminated with E. coli and faecal coliform, which puts public health at risk. The issue of quantity is not limited to urban Nepal. Drying stream flows and springs mean more drudgery in fetching and managing water. Moreover, without rainwater management, urban areas frequently face flooding and hill slopes experience gully/rill erosion.
We tackle these issues around water through our portfolio of solutions. To address the issue around quantity, we work on providing solutions to recognise and utilise alternate resources of water such as rainwater and greywater. To improve access to quality water, we provide a range of water treatment solutions that are economical, sustainable, and environmentally positive.
• 4,000+ systems installed across Nepal • 310+ schools with WASH infrastructure • 65,000 students with access to safe water • 60 million litres of rainwater harvested • 185 million litres of rainwater recharged • >10 million litres of wastewater treated/recycled yearly
We currently provide our services across 30 districts in Nepal, but we recognise the huge demand for reliable and innovative solutions to tackle water issues in the country and across the region, highlighting the potential for scaling this solution.
