Nepal’s Clean Brick Initiative has been consolidated by the signing of an accountable grant arrangement between the Department for International Development (DFID), and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). It was signed by Gail Marzetti, Head of DFID Nepal, and David Molden, Director General of ICIMOD, on 29 November 2016 at the DFID Nepal Office in Kathmandu.
Per the arrangement, the five year project will be operational from November 2016 to June 2021, and will concentrate on the modification, mechanization and upgrading of technology for cleaner brick production in Nepal. It will promote alternative building materials and energy sources, support environmental policy development, and work on building the capacities of stakeholders, and evaluating the impacts of a cleaner brick industry in the country.
