About the event

The world’s mountain regions are facing similar challenges in terms of accelerated climate change and impacts, monitoring and adaptation action, which provides opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange. The event provides a platform to exchange knowledge on opportunities for cooperation to upscale adaptation solutions, focussing on mountain cryosphere (especially through NDCs, NAPs, regional cooperation and funding mechanisms). We’ll also hear from youth representatives from across these regions on their perspective on the need for ensuring youth engagement to promote climate actions around mountain issues.

Objectives

Discuss integration of mountain adaptation in national policies and strengthened regional governance
Exchange on regional experiences of transboundary cooperation for climate change adaptation in mountains and share concrete adaptation stories
Launch the HKH Theme song ‘HKH CALLING’ for global audience
Provide a platform for youth from different mountain regions to share their perspective on the need for climate action for mountains
