Fieldwork on Rikha Samba Glacier

About the fieldwork

Rikha Samba Glacier, located in the Hidden Valley of Nepal, is one of the few glaciers in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) that have been monitored regularly. During the fieldwork, our team will conduct general station maintenance and mass balance measurements and install new sensors to further investigate the state of permafrost in the area.

Other activities during the fieldwork include servicing the Automated Weather Station (AWS), measuring glacier mass balance stakes, and installing permafrost sensors.
