The fourth Steering Committee Meeting of the Cryosphere Monitoring Programme-Bhutan (CMP-Bhutan) will be held on 16 March 2018 at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) headquarters in Kathmandu, Nepal. The meeting will review the progress made by CMP-Bhutan in 2017, and discuss a way forward for CMP activities through continued partnership between ICIMOD and the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology (NCHM), Bhutan.

CMP-Bhutan was set up in 2014. Since its inception, ICIMOD and NCHM have successfully collaborated to establish and implement long-term cryosphere monitoring and data collection in Bhutan. The programme has also enhanced the competence of national partners through trainings on remote sensing and geographic information system, and field-based mapping and monitoring.

The steering committee members for CMP-Bhutan include representatives from NCHM, the Gross National Happiness Commission, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest, Bhutan and representatives from the Cryosphere Monitoring Programme, ICIMOD.
