HI-AWARE Science – Policy Dialogue

The Science-Policy Dialogue is being organized by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) under the “Himalayan Adaptation, Water and Resilience (HI-AWARE)” Research on Glacier and Snowpack Dependent River Basins for Improving Livelihoods” Initiative. This programme is jointly organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS); The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), India; the Climate Change, Alternate Energy and Water Resources Institute (CAEWRI) of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Pakistan; and Alterra-WUR, the Netherlands. These five organizations have formed the HI-AWARE consortium that is working on developing robust evidence to inform people-centred and gender-inclusive policies and practices for enhancing the adaptive capacities and climate resilience of the poor and vulnerable populations in the mountains and plains of the glacier and snowpack dependent river basins of the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region, with a particular focus on the Indus, Ganges and Brahmaputra river basins.

The Science-Policy Dialogue aims to gather eminent experts from government agencies, research institutes and NGOs to discuss some of the research components of the HI-AWARE initiative so as to provide comments and inputs to further strengthen the HI-AWARE initiative.
