Moving mountains

Event focus

The eight Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) countries signed a Ministerial Declaration and launched the HKH Call to Action during the landmark 2020 HKH Ministerial Mountain Summit. This declaration focused on sustaining mountain environments and improving livelihoods in the HKH, a region particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. The historic agreement highlighted the need for regional collaboration and ambitious climate action to limit global warming to 1.5 °C and adapt to climate change impacts.

This event will bring together members of the HKH High-level Task Force members and representatives from the eight HKH countries to highlight the urgency of investments for climate action in the region.

This session aims to:

  • Develop a shared understanding of the latest trends, successes, and challenges in climate finance
  • Understand needs and gaps to identify opportunities for investment
  • Raise awareness about climate finance and strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to develop an enabling policy environment that promotes public and private investment in climate action projects in the HKH region
