REGIONAL WORKSHOP
Atmospheric Watch Initiative & Atmosphere
ICIMOD Headquarters, Kathmandu
16 November 2021 to 19 November 2021
The Atmospheric Watch Initiative (AWI) is conducting a four-day workshop to enhance the capacities of its country partners to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate gas analysers. Nominated participants will gain basic skills of the instruments’ working principles, daily operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. The hands-on training with the equipment will be guided by experts from the manufacturer, Thermo Scientific. Based on learnings from this workshop, we will plan future trainings on other air quality parameters.
Since its establishment, AWI has collaborated with government partners in Bhutan and Nepal to establish state-of-the-art air quality monitoring stations with aerosol and trace gas measurement instruments. These stations use trace gas measurement instruments as the primary instrument for measuring concentrations of ozone, SO2, CO, NO, NO2, and NOx. These instruments require regular servicing and calibration to ensure the highest quality of data generation.
