The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and its partners for the Cryosphere Monitoring Programme carried out an expedition to Rikha Samba Glacier located within the Hidden Valley of Lower Mustang in Nepal. The collaboration expedition between ICIMOD, Kathmandu University and the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Government of Nepal (DHM) is part of the Cryosphere Initiative funded by the Government of Norway. The six-member expedition team was lead by Anna Sinisalo, an ICIMOD glaciologist. The team successfully conducted glacier mass balance and ice depth measurements, and carried out required maintenance work on the hydro-meteorological station near the glacier. The expedition took place from 25 September to 11 October 2015 and was a follow-up to the annual research trips made to Rikha Samba since 2011.
