On invitation from the Inspector General of Forests and Ministry of Climate Change, Government of Pakistan and the ICIMOD office in Pakistan, the UN-REDD Regional Programme Officer for Asia and the Pacific, Ben Vickers held several meetings with partners of the REDD+ project in Pakistan, including officials of the Ministry of Climate Change, during a visit to Islamabad, Pakistan 14–19 November. During the visit, which was the first visit of any UN-REDD official to Pakistan, the UN-REDD Mission and the REDD+ project team developed a proposal to extend UN-REDD technical and financial support to the project in Pakistan. The proposal shall be endorsed by the office of Inspector General of Forests and Ministry of Climate Change and submitted to the UN-REDD Secretariat for approval.
