Indus Basin Initiative
At the basin level, the gender network will promote regional cooperation to foster rich dialogue, create transboundary opportunities, and influence decision makers for gender and social equity.
Individual women leaders, as well as men who work for women’s empowerment and gender equality, and institutions working in food, water, and energy will be encouraged to come together to understand women’s role in the food-water-energy nexus and its connectivity and impacts. The gender network will be a part of the UIB network and provide input to its technical working groups from a gender and social inclusion perspective, and ensure women’s agency in food-water-energy governance. A web-based gender knowledge hub will be developed to share UIB related gender data, experience, and relevant knowledge on a regular basis to promote networking among stakeholders to influence national and transboundary policies and processes for gender transformative change.
