Economies

The jobs, businesses and human settlements of the future must be climate- and nature-positive. This requires the transformation and adaptation of most major sectors of the economies of the Hindu Kush Himalayas, from agriculture and energy to construction, tourism and housing. Reinvention on this scale needs the right policy frameworks and finance, with guardrails in place to ensure no groups, workers, places, industries, or regions are left behind. ICIMOD’s livelihoods and economies unit is working to accelerate the just transition to green and circular livelihoods and economies that are resilient to change, through foresight and by identifying and championing the most promising initiatives, products and policies to support the growth of future-fit jobs, businesses and settlements.
