Ms Stella Avallone, Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms Gertrude Leibrecht, Austrian Development Agency visited ICIMOD’s office on Sunday, 20 August 2017. Deputy Director of ICIMOD, Dr Eklabya Sharma, noted that it was wonderful to host the two guests and to acknowledge the long-standing support that the Republic of Austria has provided to ICIMOD. He mentioned, “We are especially grateful for the support indicated for our new Medium Term Action Plan (MTAP)-IV which extends from 2018-2022 and envisions deepened engagement across ICIMOD’s core competencies.” Both Ms Avallone and Ms Leibrecht expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to meet ICIMOD colleagues in person and to hear directly about ICIMOD’s work, especially in the Transboundary Landscapes Regional Programme, in preparations for the establishment of a Himalayan Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and in gender integration. The Austrian Development Agency has supported ICIMOD in its past efforts in these areas.
