Policy Analyst Global advocacy (SG3-AAF) Regional action and global advocacy (SG3)
Amlan Mishra serves as a Policy Analyst at ICIMOD, contributing to Global Advocacy under the Strategic Group ‘Regional Action and Global Advocacy’. His work focuses on policy and institutional analysis in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region, aiming to place mountains and mountain communities in the forefront of policy discussions. He is actively involved in climate negotiations and multilateral processes, advocating for the HKH region’s critical importance in global climate dialogues. Amlan joined ICIMOD in November 2024.
His prior work and research encompasses climate adaptation, climate finance, climate technologies, just transitions, and climate justice. He has authored a number of policy briefs and scientific publications and has represented his research at multiple international forums, including COP28 in Dubai. Amlan is passionate about exploring data-driven and contextual solutions that are empathetic, adaptable, and capable of delivering meaningful and lasting improvements for communities, businesses, governments, and societies.
Amlan holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Sussex and a Master of Arts in Economics from McGill University.
