Governance and Institutions Analyst Adapting and transforming livelihoods and economies (AAC) Resilient mountain economies and landscapes (SG2)
Binaya Pasakhala, a Nepali citizen, serves as a Governance and Institutions Analyst in ICIMOD’s action area of Adapting and Transforming Livelihoods and Economies. He joined ICIMOD in 2020 and has been coordinating the Successful Intervention Pathways for Migration as Adaptation (SUCCESS), a project funded by the CLimate Adaptation & REsilience (CLARE) programme since 2023. Over the years, his focus has been on understanding the socio-ecological dynamics of different mountain ecosystems, with a keen emphasis on future governance strategies to ensure sustainable development.
Binaya’s publication portfolio includes peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, op-eds, blogs, posters, and jingles. He has also contributed to the report, Water, Ice, Society, and Ecosystems in the Hindu Kush Himalaya: An Outlook.
Binaya holds a doctorate from Kyoto University, Japan, and a master’s degree from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
