Disaster Risk Reduction Analyst Managing cryosphere and water risks (SG1-AAA)
Bipin Dulal is a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Analyst in Action Area A, under DRR intervention. He joined ICIMOD in April 2024. He has over eight years of professional experience in Finland, Germany, and Nepal. Bipin’s skill set includes GIS mapping, river flow and hydrology, flood modelling, and sediment transport. Apart from DRR, he specialises in early warning systems and climate change mitigation.
Previously, he worked with Practical Action and its consulting wing to instal flood early warning systems in five municipalities in Nepal under USAID’s Tayar Nepal project. He was also involved in developing standard operating procedures for flood and landslide early warning systems for the Melamchi and Indrawati watersheds. Additionally, he was in the consulting team of Practical Action and Mercy Corps for mapping policies on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development goals for floods and heatwaves in Sudurpaschim, Madhesh and Lumbini provinces of Nepal.
Bipin holds a master’s degree from Germany (2018) and a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Finland (2014).
