Fahad is a Design Officer at ICIMOD working on branding and institutional design requirements. Prior to taking on this role in 2020, he was a full-time web-graphic design consultant for ICIMOD’s HI-AWARE project since 2017.

At ICIMOD, he has led the design of the ‘Water, ice, society, and ecosystems in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HI-WISE) assessment report’ and contributed to several other major institutional events and reports. He was involved in the rebranding process and worked on the rollout and implementation of the new brand guidelines.

Before joining ICIMOD, he spent over a decade working as a designer in the development sector and in advertising.

He holds a diploma in Multimedia and Animation and has expertise in web design and 3D animation.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?

A:

I develop and design simple and innovative products that can convey the knowledge and information generated by ICIMOD to a wide range of audiences. In this way, I help create awareness about issues related to the environment and mountain communities.

What is your favourite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?

A:

I am in love with Kathmandu. It’s the best place to live as it is close to nature and the people are welcoming. ICIMOD is a great organization with a supportive and family-like working environment.

What are you passionate about?

A:

I am passionate about creating something new. It may or may not be related to my profession. For example, architectural designs, graphic web designs, cooking (sometimes), artwork, sketching, event management, etc.

My qualifications

A:

I have a bachelor’s degree in commerce and a diploma in multimedia and animation (includes graphic and web design, 3D and 2D animation, character and architectural modelling, lighting, texturing and rendering, and audio-video editing, etc). Prior to joining ICIMOD, I worked as a web-graphic and 3D architectural designer for two years at an advertising agency in Saudi Arabia. I also worked with the South Asia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies (SaciWATERs) in Hyderabad, India, as a web-graphic administrator for over three years.
