Senior Communication Associate/Graphic Design Communications
Punam Pradhan is a seasoned Graphic Designer with over 25 years of experience, currently serving as a Senior Communication Associate/Graphic Designer at ICIMOD. With a strong foundation in information technology and design, Punam consistently demonstrates exceptional creativity, technical expertise, and dedication to maintaining ICIMOD’s visual identity.
Punam has developed two institutional branding guidelines, designed impactful general and technical publications, produced creative outputs for high-profile events under tight deadlines and has independently managed design, pre-press, and printing of ICIMOD’s documents annually, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Punam is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and skilled in programming languages such as C++ and Java, bringing a unique blend of technical and artistic expertise to her work. Her career began as a Desktop Publishing (DTP) specialist and evolved through key roles at organisations like Prime Computers and ICIMOD’s pioneering multimedia CD-ROM project. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Tribhuvan University and has completed advanced training in graphic design, information technology, and programming languages. Known for her adaptability, efficiency, and commitment to excellence, Punam is also an active team player and mentor within multicultural environment. Beyond work, she enjoys travelling and has visited countries across Asia, Europe, and North America.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
I protect the pulse of the planet by designing knowledge products with clear messages and impactful visuals. I make sure that my designs have clean flows, that my photo selections are powerful and speak volumes, and that the importance of our work in the HKH is clearly communicated through our knowledge products.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
I enjoy working in the cross-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment at ICIMOD. As a designer, I love to play around with the visual elements in our publications. I feel a great sense of ownership for each document I design and I am very honoured to be a long-serving member of the ICIMOD family.
What are you passionate about?
I love my craft and am proud to say that I am still learning and improving each day. I’m passionate about learning new things in creative fields. Photography is also an interest of mine and I love to travel to different places in the world.
My qualifications
I have a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and have attended numerous training programs related to my work including an advanced course in Linux from NIIT, Nepal and an advanced graphic design course from Pentasoft, Nepal. I also hold a certificate in information technologies from NIIT, Nepal and a diploma in computer science from Prime Computer, Nepal.
