Senior Communication Associate/Graphic Design Communications
Punam Pradhan joined ICIMOD in 1996 for its first multimedia CD-ROM development, assisting with C++ coding, and is currently a Senior Communication Associate with the organisation. Over 25 years, she has been creating innovative templates aligned with ICIMOD’s visual identity. During this time, she has been involved in, among other things: brand development; designing of communication products – technical and general publications, as well as presentations; publication management – maintaining digital backups of all publications and visual materials; and vendor management –selecting vendors, evaluating print quality, and liaising with vendors. Punam has also been delivering high-quality design for ICIMOD events under tight deadlines, including for news bulletins and conference-related materials. Additionally, she has been handling all HR-related design requirements, coordinating with printers to ensure timely delivery of ID, business and Cigna cards, as well as plaques. She also coordinates with the press to ensure quality control. Over these years with ICIMOD, she has been producing around thirty documents annually.
Before ICIMOD, Punam was a Desktop Manager with Prime Computers. She has a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Tribhuvan University. She also had a training stint with Origan Technology, New York, in advanced graphic designing.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
I protect the pulse of the planet by designing knowledge products with clear messages and impactful visuals. I make sure that my designs have clean flows, that my photo selections are powerful and speak volumes, and that the importance of our work in the HKH is clearly communicated through our knowledge products.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
I enjoy working in the cross-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment at ICIMOD. As a designer, I love to play around with the visual elements in our publications. I feel a great sense of ownership for each document I design and I am very honoured to be a long-serving member of the ICIMOD family.
What are you passionate about?
I love my craft and am proud to say that I am still learning and improving each day. I’m passionate about learning new things in creative fields. Photography is also an interest of mine and I love to travel to different places in the world.
My qualifications
I have a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and have attended numerous training programs related to my work including an advanced course in Linux from NIIT, Nepal and an advanced graphic design course from Pentasoft, Nepal. I also hold a certificate in information technologies from NIIT, Nepal and a diploma in computer science from Prime Computer, Nepal.
