Sabitri Dhakal

Sabitri Dhakal is a Senior Editorial Associate at ICIMOD. She joined ICIMOD in 2024. Her responsibilities are to improve and develop ICIMOD publications by conducting research, selecting appropriate, information, restructuring, editing, proofreading, finalising, and supervising layout. Explore, brainstorm, and co-write articles and blogs in collaboration with research colleagues are some other responsibilities.

Her key skills include learning of the English language, writing, interpretation skills, editing, and proofreading, along with skills to write research-based articles and translation. (English, and Nepali)

Prior to this, she has over decade long experience of working as a senior correspondent/producer, covering health, environment, society and politics in national daily newspapers — The Himalayan Times, The Annapurna Express and online news portal Nepal Minute.

Her role at the media also included writing articles, blogs, op-eds, press releases, develop contents in websites, reports, and campaigns.
She holds a master’s degree in English from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and Post Graduate Degree in Journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, India.

Her professional qualifications include the 2020 Women’s Edition Fellowship by the Population Reference Bureau, Washington DC.
She was awarded the Next Generation of Science Journalists Award 2017 by the World Health Summit held in Berlin, Germany.
